Annual Exams
In order to ensure reproductive well-being, we perform annual exams often consisting of asking the patient about their sexual history, menstrual cycle and any other irregular gynecological concerns. We carry out full breast and genital examinations to screen for any irregularities. Patients are free to ask questions regarding their reproductive development and will receive the best care.
Amongst these annual exams, a yearly Pap smear is also recommended to potentially prevent early onset of developing abnormal cervical cells which may lead to serious diseases such as cervical cancer.
Birth control is a step taken towards preventing pregnancy. Our practice offers various methods of birth control, ranging from medications and procedures to utilising internal devices. We propose methods of birth control depending on the individual’s reproductive health and offer effective methods to prevent sexually transmitted infections.
Mutations of both the BRCA 1 and BRCA 2 genes can cause increased risk of developing breast and ovarian cancer.
The BRCA gene test is an option considered by patients who have a higher chance of being carriers of inherited mutations as a result of family history. The test is carried out by drawing blood and utilizing DNA analysis to detect any significant alterations or abnormalities in both the breast cancer genes (BRCA 1 and BRCA 2).
Women with hereditary mutations of these genes are at greater risk of developing both breast and ovarian cancer compared to women with no prior family history.
We prioritize in discussing the potential benefits, drawbacks and possible outcomes of genetic testing with our patients while also aiming to set forth the appropriate steps taken to understanding your results whether or not you carry inherited mutations.
Menopause is the termination of a woman’s menstrual cycle either naturally or due to medical health concerns. Every woman undergoes differing changes both physically and emotionally and it is our responsibility to help alleviate the distressing changes.
Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) utilizes both estrogen and progesterone female hormones to treat women with onset of menopausal symptoms such as hot flashes and vaginal dryness to developing osteoporosis. Hormone replacement therapy is an effective treatment in that it replaces the hormones that your body can no longer produce and instead supplies the body with either estrogen or progesterone or combinations of these hormones depending on the patients’ health status. Our practice offers various methods of HRT reliant on the health of the women seeking it.
Our practice suggests screening for cancer as precautions measure taken towards patient well-being. We offer different types of screening tests; a thorough physical and patient history examination, laboratory tests to identify abnormalities of tissue, blood or urine; imaging procedures such as x-rays and CAT scans; and genetic testing to outweigh the likelihood of developing cancer.
Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a virus consisting of different types of HPVs of which most are classified as sexually transmitted infections ranging from low-risk, such as genital warts to high-risk HPVs such as cervical and/or anal cancer.
Three HPV vaccines are available at present; Gardasil, Gardasil 9 and Cervarix. We highly recommend HPV vaccines to prevent infections of HPV types in both women and young adolescents between the ages of 9 to 26 years. We provide the HPV vaccines in a series of three shots within a six months’ timeframe, respectively. Our practice devotes its time to educating our ever growing generations of females about their reproductive health concerning the significance of taking HPV vaccines by discussing both the benefits and side effects of the HPV vaccine and reflecting on how to receive the finest care regarding current sexual health.
Immunizations, more commonly known as vaccinations are an essential requirement for both adults and children. Vaccines are an effective process in preparing the immune system to fight off any infection and by replicating a weakened type of bacteria or virus the body’s immune system boosts immunity. Our practice emphasizes on the importance of vaccine- preventable diseases (such as, influenza, HPV, hepatitis, and pertussis) for all women while also recommending the necessary vaccinations required prior or during pregnancy to protect both the well-being of the mother-to-be and the unborn child. We offer a complete and updated schedule of immunizations while also providing a detailed review of the benefits and side-effects of certain vaccines.
Sexually transmitted diseases (STD) are a highly concerning health risk for adults and young adolescents of all ages. Fortunately, most STDs can be treated successfully if early diagnosis is made. Being sexually active increases the likelihood of contracting a sexually transmitted infection either through skin to skin contact or through exchanging bodily fluids. STDs are caused by viruses, bacteria, and parasites. Our practice provides a one-to-one, confidential STD screening routinely or upon visit as requested. If women are uncertain as to whether they may have an STD, it is important for us to provide immediate diagnosis. We dedicate our time to informing our patients about methods of safe sex to reduce the risks of contracting an STD while also stressing the importance of early screening and treatment to ensure full recovery, especially in pregnant women with an STD.
Vaginal rejuvenation, more frequently known as vaginoplasty is a long-sought common procedure established within cosmetogynecology. It is a surgical procedure to correct vaginal relaxation, where the vagina muscles become loose and stretched and this usually occurs with age or is accompanied with childbirth. Vaginal rejuvenation is a personal choice most women opt for in order to regain self-esteem due to reduced sexual satisfaction for both partners. Our practice facilitates women to feel at ease regarding their personal desires and proposes an effective treatment plan. We also encourage women to do their personal research on the benefits and limitations of vaginal rejuvenation before progressing with the procedure.
